Meet your Instructor:

Doug Jensen, Tai Chi Instructor

Doug Jensen started his study of Yang Style Tai Chi in early 2000 at Jeff Bolt’s Kung Fu and Tai Chi school in Houston, Texas. He began assisting as a student teacher in 2002 and was promoted to full instructor in 2003. This made him one of the last students to be certified by Sifu Bolt to teach his system before he retired from teaching. He spent the next 5+ years as a primary fixture at the school teaching all Tai Chi content to all levels of students; including the relaunch of the school’s moving push hands instruction. During this time he also began self study in Tai Chi Ball from Dr. Yang’s courses to enhance his own practice, and became a vocal advocate after realizing its numerous benefits.

After the school’s closure in 2009, he briefly studied with other local Tai Chi practitioners, eventually opting for daily self-study due to work demands. Health issues prevented his consistent practice from 2017 until resolved in late 2022, and by the end of 2024 he had returned to daily practice. As he reached the 25th anniversary of his study of Tai Chi, he made the decision to return to public teaching in Houston in order to share his passion for the art and pass on the quality instruction he has received.
